Violet Tea
So, first of all, I had no idea I could now post a story to the website! Second, hang tight while I figure it out because I am not that tech savvy! The other night we made our first batch of Violet Tea. If you haven’t made this or didn’t even know there was such thing(because I didn’t until I started looking for food in the woods), then here is a little bit of fun you can have. The taste wasn’t AMAZING, but it didn’t kill me either. Also, the benefits outweigh the boring taste in my opinion. Some of the natural benefits from drinking this are:
- respiratory issues
- sore throat
- cough
- minor aches & joint pain
- fever
- skin diseases
- insomnia
- headache
- fever
- tuberculosis
- and the list goes on….
I am in no way claiming these are the cures to all your ailments, if you are into any type of herbal remedies and have no allergies to sweet violets that grow in your yard, you may give it a go!
For my tea I boiled 2 cups of water and used about 1 cup of violets. I removed most of the green. I poured the boiling water over my violets and let it steep for about 10 minutes. I then took a cheese cloth and strained out the tea ( I wanted to eliminate the potential for any hitchhikers). I didn’t drink the entire cup of tea. I wanted to make sure it didn’t upset my stomach.
I encourage you to do your own research and make sure you are always finding the correct plant. You cannot use the African violet, it’s toxic to ingest.
